It is a fact that hardly 1% of students choose a career that they want to pursue. Some go with the trend others listen to their elders yet others go with their freinds and there are some more who go for whatever they get.Even I never wanted to be a software engineer, what I wanted to be was an architect. But my bro made me take comp sc in +2 n here I m a software engg(cursing recession).May be if I was in architecture stream I might not be peforming to the mark,I do not regret my choice but I m sure its not my choice. This happens with many others they want to do something but settle with whatever they get.And this trend continues from school to college.During placements everyone just wants to be placed within the first few,and first few are mostly software industries many toh dont even try for their core companies. What is the point of studyin chemical engg and then doing software development as job(no offence to anyone).Worst part is when goin for higher studies most people go for mba cause most people go for mba and few go for mtech and at times technical interest is not the only reason they want to do mtech for.....
I m not offending anyone here, there are stil few who actually struggle to be what they want to be.And these people are the ones who will be happy n satisfied with what they have. You know the most important thing that stops a person from fulfillin his dream is the fact that he is not great at what he wants to be--something like a great singer wants to be a painter,he has great voice n all but he is not good with different colour shades.Interest and strength dont always mingle.Biggest mystery is to find your interest and strength.
