Choices

I recently attended a seminar that was on how choices help you to succeed or rather how choices make you happy/satisfied. Many people say I make a better choice when I have lot of options available others say I prefer no choices, they distract me. But do we actually look at the choices available? Even after we consider so many available options do we take the one which we want? or do external factors affect our choices?
In school there are wide streams to choose from, but 90% choose computers.And 95% of the people choose engineering as stream, how many of these 95% wanted to be engineer since ever? how many choose it cause of their parents or siblings or friends? how many just went with the flow?After engineering people go for MBA easiest and safest option. I don't say it easy to become an engineer or qualify CAT, what I want to say here is they see MBA as the only option. These days youngsters actually follow a straight path, their visibility is hindered. I have a feeling they don't explore all the available options, they know what to do without considering what to do.
But this is case in India only, here external factors like - what he is doing, or what will they say, or will I earn enough, affect a person's decision. Whereas in places outside India people don't bother much they look at the available options, they understand their interest, they respect what ever a job is, they don't bother what he/she is doing.
There are options, there are great minds also but just because mass thinks that path has sharp stones or rather that path is too flowery, people don't opt for it.

Ice cream

I used to love dark chocolate ice cream in baskin robins. In this long while, I realized it is degrading my tonsils. Slowly it was affecting the soft spot and then one day my throat got infected horribly. It went to an awful extent of throat infection. So now as per the constraints I stopped having ice creams, but yes I still tasted lot of different flavors. For some point of time I loved mango flavor but it died in next few weeks. Now lately I really like vanilla ice cream but if I have it, my tonsils is gonna get affected and if I don't have it I am missing something.....
how strange life is !!!!!!!!

Describe a computer

Its second week of my post graduation course and one of the most talented professors here gives us 10 mins, saying "Describe a computer". The irony is we all know a stereotype answer for the question but no one out of 16o Mtech students was confident or satisfied with the answer he/she proposed. It is truly said(mentioned by another awesome prof here)
'when you think you know everything,you get bachelor's degree;
when you realize there is more to it,you get master's degree;
and when you say you know nothing,you get a phd' :-)
I always wanted to go for higher studies but I had a misconception, I used to think you learn 'a b c' in Btech and you learn 'cab' in Mtech. My life used to revolved a lot around studies and grades. It was studies that shaped my life in past. That one question by my prof about describing a computer suddenly opened new gates. Its not about knowing stuffs as written in a book, its about relating to it : feeling the science within.
I asked lot of students here why you are here and got the most obvious answer higher salary, even when I say out loud that I am here to learn more, I sound phony. hahaha. Every step you take in your life has a motive, some say when this motive is money it ruins the essence of job. Money or otherwise, if the driving factor is strong enough to make you follow the full path that you stepped on, then I guess its good enough.
I don't know where I am heading on with the above said, but I know one thing : strong determination is enough to achieve the goal, this goal can be money as well as knowledge.I am off to figure out a computer : -) still.
