Like the twin towers Mumbai monsoon is also a great back drop for many movies. “That thing called Love” is a novel where Mumbai monsoon is the hero. Recently I have read lot of novels; I got some 8 Indian writer’s books just for light reading. And the only one which I liked among them was the one I read in last and it was this one. About the story I actually appreciate the writer very good work, It is true-story of a normal person- doesn’t seem phony-does not revolve around crap like the other young writers.I have one complain against this writer, the vocab he has used is too much. Looks like he was preparing for CAT or TOFEL when he wrote the book. It is more of show off than the proper usage of good words.
It is about three guy: Firstly a guy who marries his love but she still hasn’t got over her first love, secondly a love marriage that is about to break as the honeymoon period of marriage and courtship is over and lastly a guy trying to forget his long lost love gets comfort in dating a married woman. In the present era when a relationships break or people grow apart it is so easy to find comfort in other people; not a single person is wrong or unethical here, it’s the situation. As this is not the age where you can try gandhiri or ahinsa (i.e. if someone slaps on right cheek put you left cheek in front) and so this is not the time where “if you love someone set her/him free she/he comes back to you she/he is yours or she/he never was”. If you like the person- tell them how important they are, make them feel special or they will find what you can’t give in someone else. Everybody wants to be happy when it is lacking here they are independent enough to walk off and find it somewhere else. And another important thing once married doesn’t mean you are together for ever, you need to keep the charm alive-keep the romance alive- if you want to live happily ever after. And it requires lot of effort from both the ends. You need both the hand be it for clapping or for mourning.
I am impressed by this writer cause he nicely showed emotions by adding beautiful shayaries here and there. Here are few of my favorites:
Kabhi kissi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta,
Kahin zameen to kahin aasman nahin milta
Tere jahan mein aisa nahin ke pyar na ho,
Jahan umeed ho utana wahan nahin milta.##
Taruf(feelings) rog ho jaye to usko bhulana behtar,
Taluk(relationship) bojh ban jaye to usko todna acha
Who afasana jise anjam tak lana na ho mumkin,
Usse ek khubsurat mod dekar chodna acha ##
And the classic, for every girl next door
Tumhe bhi yaad nahi aur main bhi bhool gaya,
Who lanha kitna haseen tha, magar fuzool gaya!!!!
