Que Sera, Sera

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

Love the song, Love the lyrics but havent followed it.

I am a person who keeps analyzing the future. In my life it is always about "what next". I am never in present, never enjoying the moment, just deciding the path for future.Lately a friend of mine made me realize future is dynamic.Future keeps changing our wishes keep changing, we can always try for better tomorrow but alongside we should always live today

The best example is my present surroundings - People here tried day and night to reach here. Most of them knew what they were signing for, many of them knew they had to go thru this to reach their ultimate goal. Everyone cribs I want a day off, too many tests n assignments even I keep complaining very hectic schedule. When in company I did everything to get out of that place and now I am actually closer to what I want. This struggle will lead me to a place where I will love to work, where I wil work on what I want to work on. But currently its about how to get out of this and be somewhere else, when I reach somewhere else I will start for somewhere else.Life is never ending journey the day we start enjoying the scenes in the path, reaching the destination will be secondary.

It is a basic human psychology to keep cribbing about the surroundings. It can be considered both good as well as bad in some sense.
Good because, by cribbing and by not being satisfied what we are actually doing is, we are asking for more. We are trying to get the best out of our surroundings. We are keeping ourselves motivated to get the best out of whatever we have. If we are satisfied, we wont have the necessary motivation to improve things even further.

Bad because, we tend to develop a negative approach towards everything. We tend to have a pessimistic approach towards everything. We become a cynic.

It is a tradeoff between these two. And if we can have a middle path somewhere, it will be the best we can think for.

how much is too much and how little is too less is the question :-p

Yes, exactly that is what i meant by choosing a middle path. So the point is that dont think so much, relax, enjoy, cribble when you feel like and do everything in an idealistic manner at times so that you dont get a chance to cribble. :)

It's very easy to say, draw a line somewhere in between both the extremes but very hard to do so. Honestly, don't bother trying to strike a balance. It would come inherently.

I have a theory - My approach is maximalist. Unless explicitly stated bad/worse/unacceptable, I do just about anything and everything. Basically, I play an iterative game between payoffs and beliefs. I would play the game several times and see what combination (meaning what set of beliefs) would contribute to a maximum payoff. Of course, the whole exercise should have you not compromise on your ethics and morals. And most importantly, I don't think about payoff while doing something. I only evaluate what is the payoff after I have done that. By doing that, I would be minimizing the "worrying too much" quotient.

Don't ever think about striking a balance and don't ever say, "oh a friend of mine does that, how cool of him/her! I wish I was that". Balls! if you keep doing something 'cause some random X is doing it, then there wouldn't be you after sometime. It will be a mix of all x,y,z s where {x,y,z} belong to people from whom you claim you're drawing pseudo-inspiration from!

When you stick to these little things, you would inherently strike a balance.

Living in the moment means just that. There are little little things in life that are more worthier than future, big bucks or for that matter even more than knowledge and wisdom. Enjoy those to the fullest and spread goodness! And, try to learn something from every experience of yours. If you keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, You'd definitely be a better person.

Reminds of a couple of lines from If by Rudyard Kipling.

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Comment as long as your post! Give it up, ahoy! (winkey smiley - I always play the game fair)

I m not trying to strike balance anymore, I said - I value the journey more than the destination. In the end destination would be reached, How I reach it is important for me.And I respect others perspective but do not do something cause others are doing it :-D

You got loads of time man, HOW?

If u are where u always wanted to be, enjoy the present, else work on getting wat u want. Either way enjoy the present, but also imp to plan for the future.
